With Connor Bedard sustaining a broken jaw a few weeks ago, and Jack Eichel now undergoing a surgery today, the NHL needs to add two players from the Western Conference, according to David Pagnotta. This gives a chance to Oilers' forward Zach Hyman in particular who's having an incredible season.
In 38 games this season, Hyman is having a career year with 26 goals and 42 points. Over a full season, Human's on pace to score an unreal 56 goals - which is undoubtedly worthy of an all-star nomination. When Connor McDavid was asked today at practice, he have his full support to Hyman making the all-star game.
After clearly being snubbed through the original selections and fan vote, it would be fantastic to see Hyman earn his rightful first all-star nomination for his great year so far. Plus, there's an added narrative of him returning to the game in Toronto, his old team, and being a much better version of himself now than when he left.
Hopefully, the NHL makes the correct decisions and selects Hyman as one of the replacements to the All-Star Game. Among defenceman, Evan Bouchard had a case for the Oilers, but with sufficient defenceman being nominated already, his all-star campaign will have to wait another year at least.
