To be part of the Oilers elite is something rather special. To have your name alongside players like Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, and Paul Coffey many never have the chance to.

Tonight another Oiler gets to join the elite when Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard became the next defenseman to have a 10 game point streak in Oilers history.

What makes this even more special is that Paul Coffey himself who was recently named as assistant coach with head coach Kris Knoblauch, bare witness to Bouchard's amazing accomplishment.

Bouchard, was a player of interest during the offseason as many speculated on whether he could be signed to a long term or would general manager Ken Holland opt for the bridge contract solution.

After several weeks of deliberations, Holland decided to go with option B in which Bouchard agreed to a $7.8 million extension over two years which carries a cap hit of 3.9 million per season.

In the 2023-2024 season, he has played 23 games, has scored five goals with 19 assists for 24 points and is a -5.
