With a 2-8-1 record, the Edmonton Oilers are off to a terrible start.

With offensive and defensive woes plaguing the lineup, they haven't played as advertised. According to Elliote Friedman, the team is planning to make trades in the near future.

Friedman on 32TP: "If I'm Edmonton, I'm looking to make a deal that addresses my 2 problems: We're not getting enough saves and everyone is going, whoever is playing against us, wherever they want to go. How do I do that?"

There appears to be two problem spots for the Edmonton Oilers, of course the blueline. In addition to giving up goals too often, the team has not been difficult enough to play against. Although we're not talking about a total re-tool, the team needs to find better goaltending and soon, as well as better defensemen to support the next goaltender they acquire.

Could the Oilers look to their rivals, the Flames, for a defenseman as well? The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly searching for a defenseman as well.

Is their solution going to come from outside the territory?
