Yesterday, Ken Holland went on the OilersNow show with Bob Stauffer, and spoke about the team's plans with Campbell and Broberg.
As for Broberg, Holland said that he's reached out to his agent and mended a misunderstanding between the two parties. Now it seems Broberg is willing to get in some reps with the AHL team and play consistent minutes, and be called back up to the NHL when there's an opportunity for him. This is the best case scenario for the Oilers, who can now keep Broberg as a depth option and continue to develop his play in the organization.
When asked about Jack Campbell, Holland seemed even more decisive. Holland said Campbell would get one more shot', which indicates that if his play doesn't improve after being called up, the Oilers will be forced to find a way to move his contract.
This could turn out brilliantly for the Oilers, if they're truly able to retain their first round pick and develop the 22-year old Broberg, while also exploring ways to move Campbell. With these roster moves, Holland could set the team up well for a deep playoff run.
