The Edmonton Oilers will be releasing a new third jersey for next season, and an insider has shared a few new details of their appearance.

Reports surfaced last year the Oilers would be releasing a new alternate jersey next season- featuring a new logo.

New details emerge on Edmonton Oilers alternate jersey

Oilers reporter Tom Gazzola says that he's seen the new Edmonton jersey, and relayed a few characteristics of the colour and logo. It will be the classic blue, orange, and white - and will feature an entirely new logo.

The jersey will not have an oil drop, nor will it be a call back to a previous era of jersey. Not only that, Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid were personally consulted and approved the new designs.

According to an older clip from Gazzola, it will primarily be a light coloured, probably a white-based jersey.

It's very different.

Does the middle logo - is it the Oilers' logo? The main logo? It's not?

No.

That's all we need to know. White jersey, some other from of logo in the middle.

Additionally, it's not supposed to be just a gimmick jersey for the Oilers. Gazzola noted it will be regularly in the rotation for next season.

The last time the Oilers had a regular third jersey, they were the incredibly popular dark navy alternates.

It'll be a hard task to top them, but the Oilers have so many great combinations of possible logos and colours. Teasing a light coloured jersey, perhaps it's even a light blue jersey.

With the jersey releasing for next season, hopefully an official announcement and reveal of the full look will come soon.
