Currently, the Edmonton Oilers are in damage control mode, trying to dispel rumors that are spreading.

Jay Woodcroft was removed from his position by the team quickly on Sunday, and Kris Knoblauch was immediately appointed new head coach.

In the OHL, Knoblauch coached Connor McDavid with the Eerie Otters, which led to speculation McDavid had something to do with Woodcroft's firing.

Connor McDavid's former agent, now President of Hockey Operations Jeff Jackson replied that the team did not consult with players, including McDavid, during the Sunday press conference.

So was the leadership group consulted about this or not?

Ken Holland says they were but Jeff Jackson says they acted alone on this decision.

This organization is something else.

The leadership of an NHL organization doesn't seem to be on the same page, which is unprofessional.

NHL Insider Thomas Drance report that Holland involved veterans in his discussion prior to what happened with coach Jay Woodcroft.

«We didn't consult with the players on this decision. They are here to play hockey. They don't like being involved in these types of decision. Connor and the other leaders had nothing to do with this decision,» Jeff Jackson.

Holland did say he had conversations with some vets the past week.

In the long-run Jackson acted alone in the decision to fire Woodcroft, without Holland's input.

The blatant contradiction exposes how the teams leadership needs to have a concrete way of operating, because as it is now, it seems like Jackson is running a clown car.
