During a press conference earlier today, Oilers Adam Henrique called Corey Perry the biggest pest in the NHL during their press conference prior to game one.
It's safe to say the Oilers do have the biggest pest in the league as Perry will be on his fifth team in the Stanley Cup finals and has always found a way to take his game to the next level an irritate his opponents.
Notorious for the extra chop with his stick or getting in his opponents face especially around the net are some of the things Perry does well. And he will certainly have his opportunities as he will face several of the other leagues pests including
Sam Bennett and
Matthew Tkachuk.
His style of play is exactly what general manager Ken Holland was looking for in an effort to help boost the Oilers and push them over the hump to go to the finals. That appears to have been a success as he was signed in February and had time to integrate with the team. He also received a $50,000 performance bonus for getting into the finals.
Another aspect of his game was the leadership component that he has brought to several teams including the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning in their cup runs.
The Oilers will begin their Cup quest on the road as the Panthers will hold home ice advantage and game one will be on Saturday June 8th and game time will be 8:00 PM eastern.
