It was revealed that the original player who gave Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard's the Bouch Bomb nickname was Oilers forward Ryan McLeod.

It all began back on October 20th 2018 when Bouchard played his first game as an Edmonton oiler and showed the city and the fan base his talented point shot which is a bullet of a shot with loads of power. After the game, McLeod tweeted out the new nickname of Bouch bomb which has stuck ever since.

Afterwards, Bouchard was sent down to Bakersfield where he played in 2019 and the nickname resurfaced again as the announcer rang it through as Bouchard tied up a game when they played against the Colorado Eagles.

Bouchard has one of the best point shots in the league and has taken great strides in his game as he continues to develop into an elite offensive defenseman.

The 24-year-old has had an incredible playoff, where he has been the main piston for the Oilers power play. Through 13 playoff games, he has scored five goals with 16 assists for 21 points and eight power play points.

The Oilers also have an important decision to make on Bouchard as he holds one year remaining on his bridge deal and it's widely expected that he will seek a major pay increase which could be troublesome for the Oilers as they have to make decisions on Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and other important players on their roster.

Bouchard will get another chance at adding to his point total as the Oilers are set to play Game 2 which will be held on May 25th and game time will be at 8:00 PM eastern.
