Connor McDavid and the NHL had a historic night recording his 1000th career point against the Nashville Predators last night, and in his emotional post-game interview, he hinted that he'll be staying in Edmonton for the rest of his career.

Speaking to Oilers reporter Tony Brar on the ice after the game, McDavid nearly got into tears while speaking about his experience in Edmonton. McDavid referenced himself as an old man now, and the process of growing up as an Oiler. It sounds like Edmonton is his true home now, and he'll be an Oiler for life.

»You guys are making me emotional man, I'm getting emotional in my old age. All of us have grown up on this ice We grew up here. We grew up on this ice. We grew up playing in front of you guys. And you guys support me through all of this.»
- Connor McDavid

Speaking with visible emotional about his legacy in Edmonton and his relationship with his teammates, it's so very clear that McDavid is an Oiler through and through.

Connor McDavid will be eligible to be re-signed this offseason, and all throughout the season, there's been zero talk of his contract status. McDavid has asked the media not to be asked about contract talks through this season, but also, it's been practically guaranteed that he'll stay in Edmonton.

When Leon Draisaitl committed this off-season with an 8 year deal to stay in Edmonton, it was a clear harbinger that McDavid will follow suit this summer. Last night's emotional moment was another key moment that felt like McDavid is destined to be an Oiler for life, and chase the Gretzky records.

McDavid's 1000th point came in perfect storybook fashion, a pass from Leon Draisaitl in front of the Oilers faithful crowd. It will be a moment that every Oilers fan will remember for the rest of their lives, and a major personal achievement for McDavid.
