Connor McDavid gives rousing year end speech in Oilers locker room
Something about this year feels different for the Edmonton Oilers. In the ninth year of his career, Connor McDavid has ascended to a new level of a dominant player, and a fantastic leader to the team.
In some behind the scenes content released in series called The Drop, Connor McDavid was seen giving a rousing speech at the end of the regular season, preaching his belief in this team to go all the way to the Cup.
»If this year has taught us anything, it's that when we stick together like brothers and we work together and we stick with it, we can f*****g do anything. Alright, we brought ourselves back from the f*****g dead this year and it's a credit to everybody in this room»
-Connor McDavid
In recent years, McDavid has really shed the rookie perception of a shy and awkward, but talented kid. His Oilers team has seen enough of the playoffs to consider themselves veterans, and now the leadership group are behaving as such. Any Oilers player hearing this kind of speech from McDavid in the room has to make you want to run through a wall.
McDavid and the Oilers stars have already shown up in this series offensively, but are heading back to Los Angeles for game three with the series tied at one. In playoff hockey no wins come easily, especially against a quality team in the Kings. McDavid and the Oilers leadership group will still need to pull this entire team together to win any series, and realize their potential of a Stanley Cup Victory.
