After just one game of the Stanley Cuo Playoffs, the Vancouver Canucks' chances of even winning one round collapsed when their starting goalie Thatcher Demko went down with injury. To make matters worse, the injury is now reported to be worse than originally believed.

According to a report from NHL insider Sarah Civian, Thatcher Demko will miss the remainder of the playoffs - meaning he'll be out until at least June. This lines up with a report from Elliotte Friedman the day before that he heard rumours Demko's injury is severe.

»I'm hearing that Thatcher Demko is done for the rest of the playoffs»

Now even if the Canucks are able to rally around their backup Casey DeSmith and eliminate a quality Predators team, they'll be faced with a huge uphill battle without Demko in round 2 and beyond. Canucks fans are already panicking at this troubling report for their playoff hopes.

When he's been healthy, Demko has been one of the league's most elite goaltenders. In 51 games this season, Demko posted an unbelievable .918 save percentage and a 35-14-2 record. The Canucks have played a much more complete game under their new coach Rick Tocchet, but having a full season of a healthy Thatcher Demko has been one of the biggest reasons for their successful season. Without him, the Canucks will be in rough waters.
