The Edmonton Oilers have begun the next month of the season without superstar Connor McDavid, but it appears that some early indications show positive signs in his recovery.

According to the Oilers, McDavid is slated to miss between two to three weeks due to an ankle injury after he tumbled into the boards during the first shift against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Speculation ran rampant across the web and with several NHL pundits of a worst-case scenario that McDavid would be out for far longer.

But it appears the Oilers have dodged a bullet and that their superstar will not be out longer than one month. Seeing him take the ice already and testing out his ankle maybe a sign that he could come back sooner as he is able to put weight on it tried to do some basic skating exercises.

After a slow start to his season, McDavid had turned his season around as he had played 10 games, scored three goals with 7 assists for 10 points and is a + 4. It remains to be seen on how he will prevail in his season regarding his stats as he has been a machine when it comes to points earned.

The Oilers will now have to answer the call to digging deeper into their game and stepping up as head coach Kris Knoblauch stated yesterday. He mentioned that other players especially along their bottom 6 will gain more ice time as the team will search for offense.

It's too early to tell if McDavid's injury is far less then announced and there's always a strong possibility that he could suffer a set back while in recovery. But for now, the team needs to push through this adversity and put some wins together as the team begins the month of November.
