A trade structured around those two players would absolutely make sense for the Oilers, but may be a more disappointing result than trading for a Guentzel, Buchnevich, or Tanev. However, the Oilers could seriously save on both assets and cap space by acquiring two players in one trade, and the Flyers can make that happen. Scott Laughton is a physical veteran center whose game would translate extremely well in the playoffs, and Sean Walker is a quality right handed puck moving defenceman.
Most importantly with this report is the potential inclusion of goaltender Jack Campbell. In recent weeks, insiders have reported that the Flyers may be interested in Campbell now that Carter Hart's career is likely over. The Flyers could stand to take a waiver on Campbell, who has been much improved in the AHL recently.
It may be an underwhelming return on the deadline miss out on some higher profile players, but potentially ditching the Jack Campbell contract could be the biggest victory for this team at the deadline in trade.
