Edmonton Oilers Could Consider Trade for Sabres Defenceman Under Contract for 6 Years

Trade rumors have been swirling around the team for the past several weeks as the Sabres cannot seem to find a way to win any games or find any consistency in how they play. Many felt that the return of longtime Sabres coach Lindy Ruff could make the difference.

It hasn't. Several teams including the Edmonton Oilers have been linked to the Sabres in trade rumors as the Oilers have been shopping around the league for a defenseman who could fill in their top four role.

The Oilers and the Sabres have had trade relations over the summer after the Oilers sent Ryan McLeod and Tyler Tullio to the Sabres in exchange for rookie forward Matthew Savoie. Several names have appeared as potential trade targets including Henri Jokiharju and Mattias Samuelsson.
