It appears that Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner has been adjusting his game to make him a more effective goaltender as a goalie pundit pointed out on the Jason Gregor Show.
During the interview, Kevin Woodley who has been covering the Vancouver Canucks for the past 10 years explained that Skinner has been more conservative in his movement which has allowed him to be more effective against the rush.
He also stated that Skinner had been too aggressive in the first part of the season which reflected on his numbers as he along with the Oilers had been very inconsistent in his numbers and in their game.
The Oilers have enjoyed a five game-winning streak and during the last five games, Skinner has one four and last one but has had a stellar save percentage well over .930 on average.
Skinner had become the number one goaltender since the departure of
Jack Campbell and consistency was always a concern for his game. He would go long stretches of playing stellar hockey at other times where it appeared he had forgot how to play altogether.
With the improved play of the team and Skinner's adjustments the results are beginning to show with the Oilers riding high now and just in time as the team looks to continue to rise in the standings.
The Oilers will take their winning streak to the test as they face off against the team that knocked them out of the Stanley Cup finals as the Florida Panthers come back to town. The game will be at 8:30 PM eastern and it will be at Rogers Place.
