The Edmonton Oilers will be active in the coming weeks leading up to the March Trade Deadline and it appears they will be targeting one player in former Stanley Cup champion Ryan O'Reilly.

General manager Stan Bowman has been vocal about adding secondary scoring along with playoff pedigree that will help put the Oilers over the top after nearly winning the Stanley Cup last year against the Florida Panthers.

O'Reilly likely to be moved again at trade deadline

This season has not gone well for the Nashville Predators as the team felt the additions, they made during last summer were enough to make them a Stanley Cup contender. That has not been the case as the team has struggled all season and maybe ready for another retool or potential rebuild.

Ryan O'Reilly is on the trade block and being treated like he has a NTC even though he doesn't have one. Nashville doesn't want to move him, but would for the right price.

It was also reported by Pierre Lebrun of The Athletic, butthe Predators may not be actively shopping O'Reilly but certainly would be willing to listen to offers.

The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun reported Friday, «The Preds aren't shopping him. But
they will listen on him.» These teams are the most likely to convince Predators general manager Barry Trotz to move on from O'Reilly. Andrew Florio BVM Sports

Ryan O'Reilly knows how to win as he won Stanley Cup in 2019

O'Reilly holds a cap hit of $4.5 million per season and will have his contract till 2026-27. Adding a player of his pedigree with strong leadership would certainly give the Oilers what they need down the middle and help them shore up their lines and provide them offence on another level especially their power play.

The #Preds still have their eyes on the trade market, even if they don't plan to buy much more

He also provides the Oilers with a good defensive mindset as he also won the Selke Trophy. He has played 42 games this season, scored thirteen goals with 14 assists for 27 points.

It's safe to say many teams will be calling Predators general manager Barry Trotz to inquire about O'Reilly's services and it's likely teams will line up with draft capital and prospects that could entice him to part ways with O'Reilly and give the Predators a reset.
