The March 8 trade deadline is looming for many teams including the Oilers as management and coaching staff continue to scout the league and see what's available for trade. Many names have been linked to the team including Jake Guentzel and Pavel Buchnevich.

According to Darren Dreger of TSN, general manager Ken Holland seems to be looking to the southwest as the Anaheim Ducks are preparing for another selloff with many of their assets including one of the most popular centres now in Adam Henrique on the trade block.

According to Dregs, the Oilers are debating on the idea of adding a winger to help Leon Draisaitl or acquire Henrique who would give the team a new line to work with along with more secondary scoring. That area of the team needs an upgrade and a player like Henrique would be a great fit.

Henrique, has been garnering much attention for many teams as his steadfast style of play along with his versatility has helped raise his stock level significantly. There's also a lack of depth in the trade deadline for centres which has augmented his value even more.

While holding a $5.825 million cap hit for the remainder of the season, it's expected the Oilers would be asking general manager Pat Verbeek to retain a portion of his salary to make a trade work. He has played 55 games and has 16 goals with 20 assists for 36 points.

For this deal to move, the Oilers first rounder would need to be in play along with a Grade A prospect. Broberg perhaps?
