With the playoff race coming down to the wire, there are still many different scenarios that could happen in both the East and the West. Despite the 8 playoff teams more than likely being locked in the West, there are still many playoff matchups that could be changed right up until the last game of the season.

The Oilers are currently matched up against the Kings, with possible matchups against the Knights or Predators as well. The Oilers have lots of impact over who they will be facing, as their record in their final 6 games determines who they will be up against. Their easiest opponent is the Nashville predators, where their and Vancouver's records would determine if they can pass Vancouver for the first spot in the division.

If the Oilers can win 5/6 of their last games, all they would have to do is hope that the Canucks lose to one of the final three teams; Arizona, Calgary or Winnipeg. The Canucks and the Oilers also play each other on the 13th, and if the Oilers lose that it all but solidifies their spot against either the Kings or Knights.

Most of the matchups are beneficial for the Oilers, with the worst of all of them being against the Knights. If the Oilers can play themselves into a spot where they can face the Kings or Predators in the first round then they've given themselves a great shot at getting back to the West semi-finals. This year is make or break for the Oilers and any advantage they can take is more than welcomed.
