Edmonton Oilers will gain massive advantage this playoffs
The Edmonton Oilers have a clear team mindset of competing for the Stanley Cup this season. From top the bottom the roster has bought in, but come playoff time, they'll receive another huge boost to the team: an absolutely raucous Rogers Place.
Since the team has turned around their early season woes, the Oilers have been near unbeatable on home ice. Since January 1st, the team has a .857 points percentage at home, a record of 11-2-1.
If the Oilers can keep up this level of success on home ice during the playoffs, a Stanley Cup would basically be guaranteed. Their record will regress for sure, but the team clearly thrives on home ice, and can translate the energy of the fans into energy on the ice. Just taking a look at last night when Brown scored his first goal, it's clear the fans are making an impact on the vibes of the team.
Rogers Place is sure to be even wilder come playoff time, which will make Edmonton a tough place to win for any visiting team. As long as they keep climbing the standings, home ice advantage could prove to be a huge difference maker for the Oilers this year. They likely have no shot of catching Vancouver for the division lead, but climbing any amount could give them an advantage in a matchup in later rounds.
