Evander Kane has a ridiculous new online side hustle to make extra cash
For some celebrities, signing up to interact with fans online can be a lucrative way to earn some extra cash on the side if they need it. Oilers' forward Evander Kane is dipping into that territory now, by launching an online portal to charge fans for an Instagram follow or a personal message.
Kane's charging $500 for a follow on Instagram, and $1200 for a personalized video message on a website called Fanbasis.
Those prices seem extremely steep, especially compared to other former hockey players who are available to record messages. It's kind of ridiculous for someone who makes over $5M a year, and who has earned over $63M in his career. Kane's been known to have financial problems in his recent history, and maybe this is a way to make up for that. Mostly though, it just appears kind of selfish and self-cantered.
