Incredible goal of the year candidate scored by Kings' Quinton Byfield
Despite the recent lack of positive news from the LA Kings, one bright spot this whole season for them has been Quinton Byfield. Quinton Byfield has massively broken out for the Kings, just when it seemed like he needed to most. In last night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Quinton Byfield showed exactly the type of player he can be with an absolute beauty of a goal.
This goal was so satisfying to watch as Quinton Byfield absolutely undresses Zach Werenski and quickly pushes it to his back hand and tucks it past Elvis Merzlikins.
Quinton Byfield has 18 goals and 42 points in 52 games for the kings this season, which was a stark contrast to his previous season where he had only 3 goals and 22 points in 53 games. He was a 2nd overall pick in 2020 for the Kings, so he has a very high expectation to live up to.
The Kings have been a different story however, going on an absolute skid with going 2-14 to start the new year. They have since fired their coach and gone 5-1 under interim head coach Jim Hiller. They recently lost their divisional position to the surging Oilers, so it will be interesting to see these two fight it out over the playoff spot.
