The Los Angeles Kings were throwing multiple questionable hits and slewfoots, and Evander Kane took the worst of them. Before taking justice into his own hands by fighting Englund, Kane argued with the referees and Drew Doughty that the Kings were clearly throwing slewfoots, and they needed to be called as penalties. Hilariously, Doughty tried to deflect it right back on Kane, who had no time for that.
Evander Kane has arrived in full form in the playoffs, acting both as a physical presence and a scoring threat now on the second line. Being one of the team's most emotional players, his leadership goes a long way to the team's success - and that includes even these little productive conversations with the officials. Kane kept control of his emotions while conveying the team's message which is absolutely fantastic to see from him.
Even as the Kings tried to mitigate the Oilers skill by mucking it up with dirty plays, the Oilers proved themselves to be tough enough to withstand and fight back, while continuing their all around domination on the ice.
After securing both wins on the road in Los Angeles, the Oilers have a prime opportunity to eliminate the Kings and punch their ticket to the second round tonight at 8:20.
