Former Oilers star Jordan Eberle will be sidelined for at least three months due to emergency pelvis surgery after colliding with Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy.

The injury occurred when both players were attempting to get the puck and both Eberle and Murphy collided into the boards. While Murphy was uninjured, Eberle was down on the ice for several minutes an unable to get up.

He was helped off the ice by trainers and medical staff to which he was in the hallway for several minutes before able to walk.

Eberle's career began with the Oilers when he was drafted by the organization in 2008, first round 22nd pick overall. He began in 2010 where he played seven seasons with the Oilers until he was traded to the New York Islanders in 2018.

Eberle has been a steady production of offence for all teams he's played for as he has played 1035 games, scoring 305 goals with 408 assists for 713 points. This season he has played seventeen games, scored six goals with five assists for 11 points and was a + 3.

This will be a big blow for the Kraken as the team has been starved for goal scoring for more than a season with general manager Ron Francis attempting to find more offense.

It remains to be seen on what condition he will be once he returns from his recovery but it's safe to say it will take him some time to get back to the level he was at prior to the injury.

There were some rumors earlier on last year that the Oilers may have attempted to trade for Eberle as his contract was up for renewal. But that was quickly squashed as he signed a two-year extension with the Kraken worth $9.5 million dollars.
