Joel Jackson wins Alberta based strength competition to strengthen his job experience.

On an NHL staff there are so many different positions, many of them very under recognized. There are so many moving pieces of an NHL team, with teams having a staff member for almost anything.

Joel Jackson holds one of these underrated positions, being the Oilers' assistant strength and conditioning coach. Jackson continues to prove he's qualified for the job, even winning competitions outside of anything hockey related.

Jackson had to carry his wife upside down through an obstacle course for a minute and 15 seconds to end up with a first place finish. That's no easy feat, even for a strength and conditioning coach. Jackson managed to beat out the competition with the fastest time in the event, winning a basket of prizes including almost $700 cash.

It's no surprise that he can win something like this, as Jackson has a background in many different sports. Prior to getting hired on by the Oilers, he took care of all kinds of athletes at the University of Alberta.

It's very fitting to know that one of your team's strength coaches has the ability to dominate in events like this. If he has the pedigree to do well in these events, you can only imagine the great knowledge and tips he's able to give the hockey players to help them grow much stronger. If you have a strength coach that can win strength based events, that's a great sign that they can do their job effectively.
