The horn had sounded and Stecher decided to pick up the puck and told the referee that he was going to give it to a young fan. The referee being a little surprised had no issue with the idea to which Stecher skated over to the boards whacking the stick on the glass which surprised the young fan and threw the puck over the glass.
This moment will be a memory this fan will never forget including his father. Stecher has been in the bottom three of the Oilers depth chart for defence throughout the entire season. He is one of the more senior players on their defense as he has 504 games while scoring 19 goals with 91 assists for 110 points.
The Oilers are looking for it stability on their defence as the team had reconfigured it during the summer and has left question marks as the Oilers continued to fight through consistency issues. Head coach Kris Knoblauch continues to give him a decent amount of minutes as he averages roughly 15 minutes a game.
This is the first full season he is with the Oilers as he was brought over in a trade last year from the Arizona Coyotes. The undrafted 30-year-old also had stops in Vancouver, Detroit, Los Angeles and Calgary.
Stecher and the Oilers hope to make more memories in their next contest as they will be on the road to take on Quinn Hughes and the Vancouver Canucks. Game time will be at 10:00 PM eastern and will be held on November 9th.
