Oilers fan favourite player demolishes Flames GM Craig Conroy in wild fight
With previous players taking over in managerial roles, it's sometimes hard to remember how good some of them were. Craig Conroy was a player who had a great playing career, and is held as a Flames fan favourite. He was given the position of assistant general manager under Brad Treliving, and when Treliving was cut from the organization Conroy took over his spot.
When Conroy was acquired by the Flames he was introduced to the Battle of Alberta, which is something a player can never forget. Here's a hilarious video of a young Sam Gagner and an older Craig Conroy going head to head, one clip that has aged timelessly in the eyes of Oilers fans.
Even though Gagner is barely established in the league, he sure proves his worth to the Oilers in this fight. It's not easy to be a young guy in the NHL and have to adapt to fighting literal men, but Gagner holds nothing back and absolutely gives it to Conroy. This would just further show the grit and determination that Oilers fans love about Gagner, and what fans love to see in the battle of Alberta games.
In the competitiveness of the NHL you can sometimes forget that ultimately as a fan, the goal of hockey is entertainment. It's easy to get lost in playoff races and deadline acquisitions, but once in a while a look back at some of the legendary moments in hockey can refresh your love for the sport.
