Oilers fans have incredible reactions to Connor Brown scoring first goal in 2 years
Oilers fans have been tough on him, and our page has ripped him quite a bit, but when Connor Brown scored his first goal as an Edmonton Oiler it was an absolute scene in Rogers Place. When Brown scored to make the game 7-2, fans threw hats on the ice and gave a standings ovation for almost two minutes.
Brown was signed last offseason to a contract for $4M, and has seriously struggled to produce any offence this year. That said, many fans have appreciated his dedication to defence and the penalty kill, as well as his mindset always making him persevere. Brown himself took a moment on the ice to acknowledge the fan support.
The bench was popping off celebrating for Brown's goal. Even the trainers had their hands in the air!
In his interview after the game, Brown didn't downplay the moment. He spoke of being relived by finally getting the goose egg out of the way, to feel like he's contributing to the team, and the fan support really got to him.
In a pregame interview, Evander Kane even said he'd be trying to find Brown for a goal tonight, and he definitely came through.
It's fantastic to see Brown get this recognition from the fans, and to finally have the monkey off his back heading into the playoffs. Who knows? Maybe this will be the start of a hot streak for Brown!
