The Oilers signed Connor Brown to a $4M contract in 2022-23 after he recovered from ACL surgery, and his scoring was a disaster.
Now, Connor Brown has 3 goals and 10 points in his last 9 games. In a post game interview, Brown said that he's feeling as confident and healthy as he's been prior to the ACL injury.
Brown settling into a meaningful role on the team seems to have given him a new bout of confidence that he can be an impact player, and he's fulfilling it.
Even when the 30 year old veteran wasn't scoring, he was bringing speed in the bottom six, a great forecheck, and a huge asset on the penalty kill.
Now that he's found this scoring, it's great of Knoblauch to reward him with a promotion to the top line. Brown complimented Knoblauch for being able to push the right buttons in the lineup.
In 71 games last season, Connor Brown only scored 4 goals and 12 points - a far cry from his 20 goal seasons and brutal value at $4M. This year, he's already got 6 goals and 18 points.
Fully recovered physically and mentally from a brutal ACL injury, and finding his role on a new team, his surge in play is making him look like the $4M player again.
Brown stuck with the Oilers, continues to work hard and embrace the city, and Oil Country has embraced him. It's great to see the offensive success follow for a player that's grinded to get back to this point.
