In his year end comments with the media, Connor Brown said that he would practically take any contract to remain an Edmonton Oiler, and now he's backed that up.
Last season Connor Brown signed a 1 year, $4M contract to come to the Oilers after missing much of the previous year with an ACL injury. He struggled greatly for much of the season, and didn't score his first goal until March 14th. Still, as the season and playoffs went on, Connor Brown only continued to improve. He showed total dedication and appreciation to the Oilers and their fans, and hopefully he'll be much better next year too.
In the season before his brutal ACL injury, Connor Brown was consistently near a 20 goal, 40 point scorer. He finished 71 games with the Oilers with only 4 goals and 12 points, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect Brown to be much better next season fully recovered from the injury. At just $1M for the 30 year old forward, it's an incredibly fair contract, and one where Brown needs to prove he can stay in the NHL too.
Connor Brown became a fantastic storyline for his improved play in the playoffs, and was reportedly a vocal player in the locker room as well. This is a fantastic deal for the Edmonton Oilers to bring back a heart and soul player, and hopefully, his play will earn him a raise next year.
