As many Oilers fans waited and speculated, general manager Ken Holland responded this afternoon with making a trade with the Anaheim Ducks picking up Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick from the west coast franchise.

Both players have been touted for their bottom 6 role and have become specialists on the penalty kill which will help the Oilers as the team currently stands at 14th in the league.

This has led to speculation on what the fate will be of Oilers forward Connor brown and it appears that Mark Spector feels that he will be on the chopping block.

Brown has played 52 games for the Oilers this year and he is only mustered 5 assists while being a - 9. His contract was one of the worst signed in recent memory as he held a league minimum up front and was given a signing bonus of over $3,000,000 which only needed ten games to be played.

It won't be difficult for the Oilers to move Brown is they truly wanted to, as he only makes league minimum on his contract - a basement team in need of a forward could take him on.

Additionally, Sam Gagner has been sent down to the Bakersfield Condors AHL team, and it's looking unlikely that he could be back. With the Oilers acquiring two depth centers in Henrique and Carrick, Gagner is far down the depth chart and may not see time with the Oilers again this season.

More action is expected by the Oilers as the trade deadline nears an end which will be on Friday March 8th at 3:00 PM eastern.
