Hyman has seen his career reach another level since joining the Oilers and signing a seven-year contract worth 38.5 million dollars. His play and statistics seemed to have stagnated when he was with the Toronto Maple Leafs as he tried to find himself and his game.
It became clear that general manager Kyle Dubas add other plans for Hyman as the Maple Leafs felt they should walk away from his negotiation then take their chances. Hyman stated that his reasons were not based on money,
He has a league leading fourteen goals in the playoffs and has 18 points in 18 games. This season was the best one in his career as he reached the 50-goal plateau for the first time as he scored 54 goals with 23 assists and 77 points.
Hyman also has enjoyed success off the ice as he is an author of several children books that have been recognized across North America and the rest of the world. He also became part of the NBA conversation and both he and Shaquille Oneal were in a series of segments called Shaq Hyman which saw both stars trade team jerseys.
The Oilers continue to prepare themselves for game one which will be held in Florida on Saturday June 8th end game time will be 6:30pm eastern.
