Montreal Canadiens leading team in conversation with Tij Iginla
Steven Gonzalez of BPM sport has reported that the Montreal Canadiens are looking to draft Tij Ignila LA of the WHL in this year's draft. Gonzalez added that the team has met with him over four times already and they feel he is a player they would like to choose.
Tij, the son of famous NHLer Jarome Iginla has had a great year with the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL as he has played 64 games, scored 47 goals with 37 assists for 84 points while having 35 penalty minutes and is a + 17.
According to eliteprospects.com the 17 year old forward has been ranked between 10th and 23rd on numerous NHL ranking sites.
Standing at six feet and 185 lbs, his size and speed along with his playmaking ability and putting the puck in the net would be a quality the Canadiens need on their top 6. Current players like Josh Anderson will likely not be with the team for much longer and a player like again la would certainly give Kent Hughes a stronger offence.
Meanwhile, the Canadiens are dead last in the Atlantic division Anne with eight games remaining are likely to continue to stay as low as possible in the standings. The team has been mired in a rebuild for the past couple of years and have added several important prospects too their ranks and adding a player like again Iginla would make them far more deadly.
The 2024 NHL Entry Draft will be held on June 28th through 29th in Las Vegas NV.
