According to Elliotte Freidman of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, the news from the Calgary Flames organization has not been good. Numerous players, especially part of their core have stated they have no desire to re-sign with the team after their contracts and next year.

It's a continuation of what's happened since Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau decided to leave the Flames to go to American teams.

It appears that one of their best defensemen, Noah Hanifin has told the organization that he no longer wants to remain part of the Flames and wants to go home to the United States.

The 26-year-old was born in Boston MA. He was selected first-round 5th pick overall in the 2015 NHL draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. During his NHL career, he has played 598 games, scored 49 goals with 190 assists for 239 points, and has 163 penalty minutes and 59 power-play points.

The six foot three 207 pound defenseman is looking for a long-term extension, however, he would do this in America where he comes from.

This news will cause newly minted general manager Craig Conroy to work the phones and try to find him a new home to recoup draft picks and assets so he doesn't lose him for anything.

It is possible the Flames will trade him during the Nashville draft, which begins on June 28th.
