The Edmonton Oilers' season may be over for nearly a month now, but the bitter end still lingers in their minds.

As underdogs against the Vegas Golden Knights in the second-round series, the Oilers had hopes of making a deep playoff run. However, Vegas advanced to their second Stanley Cup Final in just six seasons.

One of the most talked-about moments of the series was when Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo slashed Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl's arms in the closing minutes of Game 4.

Pietrangelo recently expressed remorse for his actions on Sportsnet's 32-thoughts interview, admitting his mistake and acknowledging the consequences of his suspension, in quite the interesting way which did not seem sincere whatsoever..

«Look, did I make a mistake? Yeah, I did. And I paid for it,» Pietrangelo told the 32 Thoughts podcast. «I had to sit in that room and watch the game, go ask Phil Kessel, it was hard to watch with me cause I was pacing the room back and forth.»

«I just wanted to apologize,» Pietrangelo said about the handshake line. «It wasn't very smart on my end, emotions got the best of me. I think it takes a big person to apologize, right, it's not an easy thing to do to admit your mistake and thankfully the guys did the job for me.»

With the NHL's divisional playoff format, it's likely these rivals will meet again in the playoffs, setting the stage for the next chapter in this budding rivalry.
