BREAKING: Oiler Suspended and Head Coach Hit With Hefty Fine by NHL
Havoc broke loose during the final minutes of Game 4 between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night, culminating in a fight between Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse and a Golden Knights player.
Unfortunately, the fight was instigated by Nurse and took place within the last five minutes of the game. As per new NHL rules, this means a default one-game suspension for Nurse and a $10,000 fine for Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft.
While the suspension is currently defaulted to Nurse, there is a chance it could be overturned *IF* the Oilers appeal it.
Nevertheless, the incident serves as a reminder of the NHL's strict rules regarding fighting, and the potential consequences for players who break them, which for some reason results in a coach being punished.
