BREAKING: Team Canada Heading to Gold Medal Game After Highlight Reel Goal
Canada secured their spot in the gold medal game at the 2023 IIHF World Hockey Championship with a hard-fought 4-2 win over Latvia.
They twice trailed in the game but rallied back with goals from Sammy Blais and Jack Quinn. 18-year-old Adam Fantilli scored the game-winner, assisted by Milan Lucic, and Scott Laughton added an empty-netter.
Fantilli expressed his gratitude for receiving a pass from Lucic. He had an impressive freshman season at the University of Michigan and is expected to be a high pick in the NHL Draft. Goaltender Sam Montembeault continued his stellar tournament, making 20 saves, while Arturs Silovs stood tall in net for Latvia. Canada now aims to win gold and bring home the ultimate reward.
