Since then, Leipsic has been playing in the KHL, initially with CSKA Moscow before joining SKA St. Petersburg in August 2021.

It seems Leipsic has found a new home in Russia and has taken steps to make it more permanent. He has requested citizenship from Vladimir Putin, already holding a Russian passport.
