As a result of his double hip surgery last spring, he was initially offered PTO, which he signed but was unable to play at the beginning of the season.

In three games with the Bakerfield Condors, Gagner scored 1 goal and contributed 4 assists for 5 points.

The Edmonton Oilers drafted Gagner sixth overall in 2007; it will be his third stint with them. Through the 2013-2014 season, he appeared in 402 games in Oil country, scoring 88 goals and 158 assists for 246 points.

In 2018-2019, he played 61 games, posting 10 goals and 12 assists before being traded at the trade deadline.

Over the course of his NHL career, Gamber has played for the Arizona Coyotes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings, and most recently, Winnipeg Jets.

In 1,015 NHL games, Gagner has scored 192 goals and contributed 327 assists for 519 points.

Due to this transaction, Adam Erne has been waived for purposes of reassignment to Bakersfield Condors.
