When your fellow competitor, compliments you, it lets you know that your game is solid and skilled and they view you on equal footing.
Connor McDavid has attained a new personal record this season, with 124 points in 65 games, and is handing out compliments here.
"I'm not like one of those guys like Auston Matthews"
McDavid who is arguably the NHL's best player, who can deke around defensemen and cut through the best just gave Auston Matthews a huge compliment on his game.
The humility isn't seen often enough between some of the best in the league and McDavid is keeping it classy with this one.
Auston Matthews does have one of the best shots in the game, and his skills speak for themselves despite the fact Matthew's points have taken a hit, while he learns a full 200-foot game, playing some of the best defense in his career.
But while the respect is there, we can count on Connor to lead the way to keep pushing the Edmonton Oilers past the competition in another career-year.
