Connor McDavid's perfect linemate is..
After signing Sam Gagner, and Connor Brown, and re-signing Mattias Janmark, the Edmonton Oilers remain within contention for the playoffs.
There will always be a need for top-six talent with rookies like Dylan Holloway and Ryan McLeod who have yet to develop into the top-tier talent they need.
Their top-six consists of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Evander Kane, Zach Hyman, and Connor Brown, but as a failsafe, they could use another forward.
The Oilers have assembled a formidable roster capable of making waves in the Western Conference. By pairing Konecny's talents with their existing strengths, they could gain an edge against formidable opponents like the Los Angeles Kings and the Las Vegas Golden Knights, who eliminated them in the second round last year. Consequently, the Flyers would also reap substantial returns in exchange for a player of his caliber.
In order to find the perfect linemate for Connor McDavid, Ken Holland would need to contact Danny Briere first.
In his statement, Briere said he'd listen in on any Flyers player and a deal would be made if the price is right.
A mock trade
MOCK TRADE
To EDM:
Travis Konecny [$2 million retained] ($3.5 million cap hit)
To PHI:
Warren Foegele ($2.75 million cap hit)
Philip Broberg ($863,333 cap hit)
2024 1st round pick
2026 2nd round pick (upgrades to a 1st if the Oilers win a cup with Konecny) Oilers fans have speculated that Konecny would be perfect for the team, and in truth, he would, but the price was hefty and the team passed on a 1st and 4th for Scott Laughton.
Many mock trades have been suggested, speculating what could be considered a fair price for Konecy, but will Holland pay it?
The answer is not yet clear. It may not be known until the trade deadline. As for now, there is no official word.
