Could Raphael Lavoie be the answer for next season?
In 2019, the Edmonton Oilers picked Raphael Lavoie in the 2nd round. For the first three years of his professional career, he played in the AHL in Bakersfield. However, things might be turning in his favor now.
The Edmonton Oilers are keen to conserve cap space and maintain their current roster, provided it survives free agency. As per Robert Tychkowski's suggestion, Lavoie could be called up and given a chance in the Oilers' lineup.
If things go as planned, Lavoie may receive a contract below his qualifying offer, but he could still make it to the team if he chooses to take that route. If not, he would have to pass through waivers to return to Bakersfield.
Lavoie initially struggled in the previous season, but he bounced back and scored 45 points in 61 games with the Condors.
Given the potential cap issues that the team could face, it would be unwise for Holland and his team to overlook Lavoie's abilities.
