Former Edmonton Oilers forward Tyler Ennis has opted to play another season in Europe rather than return to the NHL.

The 34-year-old forward has played 700 NHL games, however, a true NHL opportunity never presented itself to him last season.

A veteran of 700 NHL games has signed a contract to play in Germany

He has signed a contract with the German club Adler Mannheim of the German DEL.

Given that Ennis scored 13 goals and scored 33 points for SC Bern in the Swiss National League last season, he might have had a shot at PTO with another NHL club. However, the plan did not materialize.

While Ennis has three 20-goal seasons on his NHL resume, he struggled to put 24 points in 57 games with the Ottawa Senators in 2021-2022.

In Adler Mannheim, Ennis will join an offense-starved team currently ranked second in the DEL standings. Their lack of goals may explain why they added Ennis, as they rank outside the top 5 teams in the DEL.

While he was disappointed as his shot at an NHL roster dried up, the former NHLer has a chance to regain his form in Germany and prove to NHL GMs he's not down and out.
