Throughout his career, Flames forward Milan Lucic has had interesting reviews about his game. With his size as a 6 foot three 240 pound winger, you would expect this man to be a slower, less effective goal scorer and point getter in the NHL. That, however, was not the case during his time in Boston where he had one 30-goal season and numerous seasons of over 60 points.
He also has a Stanley Cup which he won in 2011 with the Boston Bruins. So, when it comes to crucial games and times when players need to step their game up to help push others to win hockey games, Lucic has some credentials to say so.
The Flames have never been the same since they lost two of their key stars Matthew Tkachuck and Johnny Gaudreau. Even with the Hail Mary trade they made with the Florida Panthers and recovered Jonathan Huberdeau, the mix has not worked, and the players are not responding.
It's unclear what the Flames need whether it's a coaching change, or a quick retool of the franchise due to the players not performing. This kind of play is unacceptable for a team that was quite deadly in the last two years during the playoffs.
The Oilers, on the other hand, are flying high right now with the best power play in the league and solidifying their playoff spot hoping for a long playoff run in a shot at the Stanley Cup.
With the flames in tatters, this must make Oilers Nation smile from ear to ear.
