Flashback - Referee Gets Handed a One Year Suspension After Assaulting a Minor
Sadly, during the past several years, we have seen an increase in instances between players and referees. Despite the fact that many of the videos are from other countries, Russia seems to have a new trending occurrence once a week.
A Russian official who injured Alexander Cherenkov, age 17, has now been suspended for the remainder of the 202223 campaign. The referee was caught on camera slew-footing the seventeen-year-old Cherenkov, forcing his head to fall into the ice, and this infuriated the parents.
Is a one-year suspension on officiating enough, or should he never again referee hockey games again?
