With a Stanley Cup in 2016-2017 under his belt, Archibald has seen a fair amount of NHL action.

Moving around the league, he played for the Arizona Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers, and returned to the Penguins in 2022-2023.

We have signed free agent forward Josh Archibald to a two-year contract worth an AAV of $800,000.

Nonetheless, Tampa Bay signed Josh Archibald to a two-year contract in July. Over the next two years, the contract was valued at $1.6 million. Things have changed drastically since then.

As a result of a discussion with Archibald and his agent, the Tampa Bay Lightning have found themselves in a bit of a bind.

Archibald will not return to NHL hockey this season, according to his agent.

As Julien Brisebois discussed the player's status with the media, there was no official word or reason.

In his 305 NHL games, Archibald scored 45 goals, created 38 assists, and added 83 points.

«Yesterday, I was informed by Josh's agent, and by Josh himself in a subsequent conversation, that he was not planning on playing hockey for the time being and that he would not be reporting to training camp. Consequently, Josh was placed on unconditional waivers earlier today for the purpose of terminating his contract.

«We wish Josh, his wife Bailey, and their entire family the very best in their future endeavors.»
