Former Canadian NHL Player Gets Drilled With a Puck to The Head on LIVE TV Broadcast
NHL broadcasters have had to deal with some challenging circumstances since they are unprotected, much like the players sitting on the benches. However, broadcasters don't wear complete gear as players do.
The Colorado Avalanche beat the Ottawa Senators 7-0 last night. Jamal Mayers, a former NHL player who is now a broadcaster, was hit in the head by a puck while coveringthe game.
Jamal Mayers required six stitches, but he quickly resumed game commentary after receiving care because he is one tough hockey player!
Why doesn't the NHL install glass protection in all of the rink-level broadcaster locations on the ice is a reasonable question. They might do something in the future, but preferably not until something major occurs.
