Former NHL'er arrested
Prabhraj Rai, a former Vancouver Canucks draft pick, is currently being investigated for suspected real estate fraud involving millions of dollars, according to Surrey RCMP in British Columbia.
Rai, drafted in 2008, faces accusations of tricking people between October 9, 2015, and July 20, 2018. Currently, he's been released under certain conditions until his next court appearance.
Lawsuit and Denial
Rai is also dealing with a lawsuit from a realtor who claims he lied about knowing retired hockey players and successful business people. The realtor says Rai convinced them to invest $2.8 million, later saying the profits were held by the U.S. government. Rai denies this, saying the realtor was trying to get closer, and got upset when Rai tried to limit their involvement.
