Former Oilers defenseman heading to the 2023 Worlds.

Ethan Bear, former Oilers defenseman received some great news today that he will be heading to the IIHF 2023 worlds. Bear has been part of three NHL organizations, the Oilers, hurricanes and now the Vancouver Canucks.

The 25-year-old defenseman spent three seasons with the Oilers and had one season of over 20 points that was the 2019-2020 season before the pandemic when he played 71 games scoring five goals with 16 assists for 21 points and 33 penalty minutes.

In his final season with the Oilers, he had to wait until the others found him a new home which happened to be the Carolina Hurricanes. Warren Foegele was the player that came back to the Oilers.

This season he was with the Vancouver Canucks and he had a meagre 16 points. He will enter the offseason as a restricted free agent but will carry arbitration rights. His last contract was $1.8 million per season.

As for the world championship, it will be held from May 12th through 18th. It will be played in Tampere Finland and Riga Latvia.
