It's been a rough summer for Matthew Tkachuk
Matthew Tkachuk went above and beyond to support his team's quest for a Stanley Cup victory, despite playing with a broken sternum. With the help of his brother and teammates, he donned his gear and hit the ice.
In game 3, he even scored a game-tying goal and assisted on Carter Verhaghe's overtime winner.
However, the disappointment of falling short is still fresh for Tkachuk. He finds it frustrating to think about.
While the pain of broken bones and the ongoing recovery is excruciating, nothing compares to the emotional scars from losing the series in five games. Tkachuk confided to Matt Larkin of Daily Face-off, describing the feeling as «still so fresh, still so frustrating.»
Tkachuk also has to deal with the fact that he'll «definitely be on the shelf for a while», though he might be able to get back to some training at the end of the month.
Currently, he is focused on recovering from his injuries and will need time before he can resume training.
Despite this setback, the young forward had an impressive season, tallying 109 points and contributing to the Panthers' successful Stanley Cup run.
They even managed to dethrone the President's Trophy-winning Boston Bruins.
Tkachuk knows he must take the time to rest and visualize his goals for next season. He is determined to come back stronger and hungrier than ever for another shot at the cup.
