Both the Edmonton Oilers and the Maple Leafs had this game circled on their calendars, Saturday night hockey night in Canada with lots of star power about to clash. Another oiler also had this calendar circled which happened to be former Leafs goaltender Jack Campbell.

Campbell, who came over in a trade from the LA Kings to the Maple Leafs was a fixture on the team for a few years as their starter who took the team to the playoffs two seasons in a row. In those playoff runs, he played a total of 14 games and had six wins and eight losses, with 2.45 goals against average and a .915 save percentage.

Those numbers and a breakout season gave Campbell the ammunition to go out and get a better contract which landed him with the Oilers for 5,000,000 x 5 years.

Tonight, while being in the backup role due to recent poor play, the Toronto Maple Leafs presented a Jack Campbell tribute video in which they looked back at his time with the Maple Leafs and gave the fans a chance to say thank you.

Maple Leaf fans chanted Soup which is his nickname due to his last name and at the end, he was seen saying the words thank you repeatedly to the fans.

The Oilers lost tonight 7-4 against the Maple Leafs which turned into a wild physical game and highly entertaining.
